‘Harmony day is on the 21st March in Australia. We celebrate Harmony Day to promote diversity and acceptance of other cultures. … Harmony Day aims to start a conversation about heritage, culture and community. The event coincides with the United Nations’ International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.’
This year St Cecilia’s we will celebrate Harmony Day on Thursday 19th March. On this day we will recognise and celebrate the different cultural backgrounds within our school community.
To help celebrate this special day, we are asking students to bring in something to share with their classmates that indicates what country their family is from. This will allow all students to learn about the variety of cultures we have within our school community and learn how important it is to respect our differences. Students are also allowed to wear something that represents their culture on this day.
