PDHPE

Our Personal Development, Health and Physical Education curriculum incorporates teaching and learning experiences related to the health priorities for young people of building relationships, drug education, fitness and physical activity, child protection and nutrition.

Our teaching programs in this Key Learning Area encourage an understanding and valuing of self and others through both the explicit, and informal, teaching of personal and social skills. They promote physical activity and a positive attitude towards a healthy lifestyle, as well as encourage informed decision making to enable students to act responsibly and respectfully. The teaching in this area is particularly concerned with developing resilient individuals who are resourceful in managing their own lives.

Throughout the year there are a number of opportunities for students to take part in sporting events in addition to our school Athletics Carnival, Swimming Carnival and Cross Country events.

In addition to this, students from Kindergarten through to Year 6 also participate in a gymnastics course for one term throughout the year which is provided by a specialist company.

Swim School

During the year each child from K-2 is also provided with the opportunity to participate in a School Swimming Program. This consists of a 9 days day instructional swimming program held at Mingara Aquatic Centre.

Surf Safety

In Term Four, children in Years 3 to 6 are provided with the opportunity to participate in a Surf Awareness Education Day held at a local beach. This is a fantastic opportunity to increase students surf safety.
